Blog Post #6
My favorite Geology topic was the rock cycle. This is my favorite topic because like how rocks form and change. Rocks are always changing from one type to another. I also like how all rocks are different. Some rocks are dark and shiny and some are light and rough.
My favorite Meteorology topic is the clouds. I learned a lot more about clouds in this section. I like how there are many types of clouds and how they look. I also like that you can tell what the weather is going to be like by the clouds.
My favorite Astronomy topic is the galaxies. I just really like how the different galaxies look. My favorite galaxy is the spiral because I like how it looks like a swirl of light and stars.
I think that I got a really good grade on the exam because I studied and tried hard on the test. There is nothing that I would have done differently.

Big Bang Theory
The Universe started out very small and then there was a big explosion. Things started expanding and forming together. After the big explosion it started to cool down which helped form many of the things in the Universe.
If I went into a black hole I think it would be black and I would not see anything. I would just keep going further and further into the hole. As I went further and further I think I would die from all of the gravity.
I do not think worm holes are real, but if they were I think that they are really cool. It is kind of like a time machine. You could travel between two places really fast and be at different times, but in the same place.

Extrasolar planets
The 4 ways scientists can detect planets are radial velocity, Astrometry, Transit Method, Optical Detection.
Astrometry makes more sense because it give you the precise measurement of the position of the stars. It tells you the stars motion and from that scientists can figure out the orbit and mass of it.
The Goldilocks Zone is called the life zone. It is the area where the planet is just the right distance from its home star and its surface is not hot or cold. This means that the planet could possibly have water.
If the Gilese 581c had life on it I think they would look like fish because it might be covered in water. I think they would act weird because their planet has twice as much gravity as Earth and that they live in water. I do not think they would be intelligent because they live in water.
I do not believe in aliens because the whole idea of them is crazy. No one has ever seen them before and where would they live. I am sure that Scientists have looked at all the planets by now and if there were really aliens out there they would have seen something. If there were really aliens I think they would have come to Earth by now or did something to show us that they were real.

Planets
1. The primary gas in the Jovian Planets is Hydrogen.
2. The primary gas in Mars and Venus is Carbon Dioxide
If I could visit one planet it would be Saturn because I would like to see its rings. I know that they are made of water ice and dust material so I would like to know what they feel like and see how thin they really are. I would also like to see the second biggest moon Titan and see what Saturn looks like sense it is mostly gas.

Astronomy
Saturn's rings are made of water and ice. The ring are divided into 7 divisions which are D,C,B,A,F,G, and E. F and G are very thin and difficult to see and the A,B, and C rings are more visible. Between the A and B rings are a gap called the Cassini division which was named after Giovanni Cassini who discovered it. Between the A and F rings is a gap called the Keeler gap.
A black hole is a place in space where nothing including light can escape. It is called black because it absorbs all light that hits it and reflects none of it. The black hole's energy bends light. Its interior is invisible and can only be seen by its interaction with other objects. Around the black hole is an event horizon where matter and light can only go inwards.
The Milky way is the galaxy where the solar system is. It is a barred spiral galaxy that is part of the Local Group of galaxies. The sun revovles around the center of the galaxy. The Milky way has a bulge, disk, and a halo. The halo and bulge contain old stars and the disk is filled with new stars, gas, and dust. The galaxy is at least 5 billion years old.
Mars if the fourth planet away from the sun. It is called the " red Planet" because of its reddish appearance. It is a terrestrial planet and has a thin atmosphere. Mars has the largest mountain in the solar system which is Olympus Mons and the largest canyon which is called Valles Marineris. It has 2 moons called Phobos and Deimos and they are both small and ireegularly shaped.
Titan is the largest moon of Saturn and the second largest in the solar system. Titan is classified as a moon, but is larger than Mercury and Pluto. It has a planet like atmosphere ans is more dense than Mercury, Earth, Mars and Pluto. It is mainly made up of nitrogen and other elements.
